Introduction

The word Kasba is derived from the French term meaning “suburb” or “settlement.” During the Muslim rule in the Indian subcontinent around 1338 AD, Sultan Alauddin Hussain Shah constructed a fort named Kailaghar on the western side of the present Kasba Railway Station. Around this fort, people began to settle gradually, and over time, a small town called Kasba emerged.

It is believed that Kasba originated from the ancient Kailaghar area. The remains of the historic fort can still be found on the western side of the railway station.

Geographical Location: Kasba Upazila is a border sub-district located on the eastern edge of Bangladesh, adjacent to Bishalgarh Police Station in Tripura, India.

North: Akhaura and Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila
South: Brahmanpara Upazila of Cumilla District
West: Muradnagar (Cumilla) and Nabinagar (Brahmanbaria) Upazila
East: Tripura State, India.

Climate and Weather:  Kasba Upazila falls under the tropical monsoon climate zone of Bangladesh, featuring three distinct seasons — summer, monsoon, and winter.
Highest Temperature: Around 30°C in May
Lowest Temperature: Around 18°C
Annual Rainfall: Maximum 114.65 inches, minimum 56.43 inches, with an average of 78.06 inches
The climate is moderate and healthy, suitable for agriculture and comfortable living.
